Measuring the size of a city's homeless population is inherently difficult because its constantly changing & many people experiencing homelessness live in hard-to-find places.
Historically, Austin has measured homelessness using the Point In Time Count. Our most recent count showed 2,374 people experiencing homelessness.
But the PIT Count doesn't tell the whole story. The latest info from our local homelessness services database shows more than 6,000 people experiencing homelessness in Austin.
